Artifacts can tell us much about wars of the past, from the conditions on the 
battlefield to high-level strategy to the experience of everyday citizens. This 
series showcases dozens of objects from World War I and World War II that 
contributed to the war effort and international relations. New weapons and 
vehicles, from heavy tanks to rocket missiles, are highlighted, as well as other 
technological breakthroughs, such as prosthetic limbs and penicillin. 
Significant documents are also discussed, including the Zimmerman telegram and 
Hitler's directive to invade Poland.
